Laine Walters Young

Parish Administrator

Sarah Allen

Church School Director

Laine has worked at the Redeemer since November 2008. She enjoys the varied tasks of her position, particularly designing and managing the content of the website and the newsletter, and is ecstatic that she has a job where she can have serious theological discussions with her coworkers. Laine has a Master’s degree in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Pacific Lutheran University. She loves how her job at the Redeemer uses both of her degrees on daily basis.

Laine is also actively involved at St. James’s Episcopal Church in Cambridge coordinating and teaching Upper School. In the past, she has sung in the choir (where she met her husband), has coordinated the young professionals small group, and has been a Lay Eucharistic Minister and Lector, among other things.  Her husband Michael is Treasurer at St. James's and has spent tenure in wardenships.

Laine is originally from Portland, Oregon, although lays claim to being from a good deal of the West Coast.  In her free time, she likes to cook with her husband, quilt, read, and entertain friends.

Sarah Allen joined the Redeemer in 1986 with her husband Tim and their first newborn.  She began teaching in the Church School in 1988 and helping with the Christmas pageant in 1990.  Their three daughters have all been baptized and confirmed at the Redeemer and have enjoyed the youth groups and mission trips.  In 2000, Sarah became co-director of the Church School after serving as chair of the Church School committee and being on the Vestry.
Sarah has been teaching children since 1975, where she was director of a French language and drama day camp for children ages three years old to 12 years old, a position she held for eight years.  She received her MA in French from Middlebury and has taught high school French in Manhattan, Maine, and Cincinnati.  She also taught English in Paris for two years. In her spare time she enjoys fixing up her house and working in her yard. She loves walking her dogs, tennis, theatre, dancing and entertaining with family and friends.  She is blessed to be involved with all the children at the Redeemer.
