Summer Worship Schedule
PLEASE NOTE! Beginning on July 20th and continuing through August 31st, the Church of the Redeemer will begin a pilot program, moving the Sunday summer worship service from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. There are many reasons for this change. Firstly, we are looking for ways to increase summer attendance. Late June and July attendance has again been sparse, and some members of the congregation have suggested that a change should be made. Many families go away for the weekends during the summer, and we are hoping that by moving the service into the evening, more parishioners will be able to come to church. We hope that by offering a Eucharist at the very end of the weekend, parishioners can pray together without the church demanding that they cut their weekend plans short. We wish to stress that this is a pilot program, and if it doesn’t work out, we can change it back next year. The worship committee will be discussing this topic both in September and in the Spring. As always, the lay and ordained leadership of the church encourage your feedback. We hope to see you on Sunday, the 20th at 5:00pm.

Vestry Nominating Process Review
The Vestry’s Committee that is researching our Vestry Nominating Process as part of an ongoing Governance review is continuing its work throughout the summer. As was mentioned at the Parish Forum in June, any parishioners who might have suggestions about how we might improve our process to better serve the Redeemer are invited to submit their ideas in writing to the Committee c/o Graeme Mills. Graeme’s email is GMills@cambridgeassociates.com. Ideas need to be in writing to be included in the Committee’s deliberations. |

Hunger in Massachusetts
With food prices rising sharply recently, there has been an estimated 20 - 40% increase in people in Massachusetts seeking assistance from food pantries. Many of these are working families who can’t make ends meet, or have to choose between buying food or gasoline. To help address this, there will be collection bins all summer for non-perishable food items outside the church office and on Amy and Rick Weed’s front porch (20 Malia Terrace, Chestnut Hill). We will drop the items at the Newton and Brookline Food Pantries every other week. Please pick up an extra item or two when you are at the grocery store to help address this growing problem. |
