Request for Participants

Website Subcommittee

We need people from all major areas of the church

to help design a Website that serves the needs of the Redeemer

Volunteer one hour per week via online contact

Now through October

The subcommittee will work to provide feedback to our professional web developer on integrating our programming with our online presence and vision for the future regarding the website. This committee will be facilitated by our Executive Assistant to the Rector and will involve face-to-face meetings only as necessary. Online Googlegroups will be set up to view and provide feedback online, so this is a very doable summer commitment from any location.

Contact Laine in the office to sign up!

office@redeemerchestnuthill.org or 617-566-7679

Keep connected with the Uganda Mission online!

Debby Mills will be posting updates and other material online as missioners

prepare for the trip and when they are in Africa.

You can find a link to her Pilgrim-Uganda Mission Trip 2009 webpage

on the main page of the church website, www.redeemerchestnuthill.org,

where it says Pilgrim-Uganda

Know of a good web developer?

We are looking for one!

Let the office know by June 30th!

Keep your loved ones on the prayer list!

Contact the office!

On the Feast of Pentecost (May 31st), we will be updating our prayer list and the policy around the list.  Out of concern that the prayer list was getting too unwieldy to be prayed, and that some on the prayer list might have recovered without our knowledge (especially true for the people who are identified only by their first names), we will be starting the prayer list over.

First, this will mean that the names on the prayer list that were added before the month of April will need to be renewed to stay on the list.  New names may be added at any time.  The Executive Assistant to the Rector, Laine Walters Young, is keeping track of all new additions to the prayer list.  At the end of each month, Laine will call or e-mail the person who made the prayer request. If you make a prayer request, she must also have your contact information so that she can call you at the end of the month.  If the person who requested the prayer wants to continue having the name on the list, the name will stay on the list.  If a person who was being prayed for has recovered, or no longer wishes to be prayed for in this way, then the name will be removed.

Names can stay on the list as long as needed, but the office and clergy ask  to be updated by requesters from time to time on the condition of people for which we are praying.  If you requested that a person be prayed for several months or even years ago, and you would still like them on the prayer list, please contact the office.

People on the prayer list are always prayed for at the Wednesday Morning Prayer and Healing Services, whether or not the list was prayed during the Sunday church service on the previous Sunday.

Laine can be reached at 617-566-7679 or at office@redeemerchestnuthill.org. She will call or email back to verify that the names requested have been added to the prayer list.

Church School in June

Can you volunteer for

the St. Stephen’s B-SAFE Summer Camp?

The Church of the Redeemer would like to responsible for the lunches for the training week for the St. Stephen’s B-SAFE Summer Camp (for low income inner city children in Boston). In order to do this, we need Redeemer volunteers. The details are as follows:

Dates for which we need volunteers: June 29th – July 2nd

Volunteering choices:

  • Help serve lunch at Epiphany School on one day of the B-SAFE training week
  • Prepare a casserole at home and bring it into the Redeemer (to be served at Epiphany for the B-SAFE training week).  If you can make a casserole, we will provide you with the casserole dish along with Nancy Avery’s fabulous casserole recipe.  Casseroles can be made in advance and we will keep them frozen.
  • In lieu of cooking, you could contribute a check. We will use the funds to purchase lasagnas that we will be serving on another day of the training week. Please send your checks to the Redeemer, made out to the Church of the Redeemer and put B-SAFE in the memo section of your check.

Our capability to provide and serve lunches over the week of June 29th will depend on whether or not there are Redeemer Parishioners who are available to volunteer over that week.  If you are interested in helping with the St. Stephen’s B-SAFE Summer Camp sometime over that week of June 29th – July 2nd please contact Pam Mathews (pam@mathewshome.net) or Laura Patton (laurated@rcn.com).

Please let our Curate Marc know if you have interest in participating.  The church van will be making trips from the work site to the parish at the beginning and end of the day.  Other trips may be scheduled.

Bible Study with the Rector

Grace for the Road:

Midweek Bible Studies for Ordinary Life

Paul's letter to the Romans has, arguably, had more influence on the Christian Church over the last 500 years than any single book of the Bible.  In it he articulates his vision of the sovereignty of God and the necessity of grace, and does so in a way that is personally revealing and, at times, profoundly moving.  These studies are times of vibrant conversation and questioning, as we all seek a closer walk with Christ.  And the coffee is good, too!  We guarantee you will walk out re-charged for the rest of your week.

Through June 18th and Resuming in the Fall

Men’s Bible Study, Wednesdays, 7:00 am

Women’s Bible Study, Thursdays, 9:15 am

Both Bible Studies meet at the Rectory, 381 Hammond Street

Did you know that adults can be baptized?

Anyone who has not previously been baptized, no matter the age, can become a candidate for Baptism, however preparation with the clergy is required.

Baptisms are currently scheduled to take place on the following dates:
